Cheshire CT Bat Removal Service

For Cheshire bat removal, bat proofing, and attic inspections, call or text 860-510-6313.
RF Wildlife provides bat removal services throughout Cheshire and surrounding towns including Southington, Wolcott, Wallingford, Hamden, and Durham. Most of the bats I remove from the Cheshire area are big brown bats. I have also handled some of the less common little brown bat jobs in the region, especially closer to lake areas and older homes. If you need a Cheshire bat inspection, give me a call and I will take a look at the entry points, attic signs, and what it will take to exclude them the right way.

Cheshire Bat Exclusion Service
Bat exclusion is the process of permanently bat-proofing a home. It is specialized work and it goes a lot smoother when done by someone with real construction experience. Bats do not chew their way in. They use construction gaps, loose flashing, attic vents, or openings first compromised by other animals such as squirrels, flying squirrels, or woodpeckers.
Bats can fit into surprisingly small spaces. A gap around 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch can be enough for an entry point. In Cheshire, the bat species most commonly found in homes is the big brown bat. Colonies can range from just a handful of bats up to well over 100. The largest colony I have counted in a home was 178. They are called “big” brown bats, but big is relative — they are still not much larger than a sparrow. That said, if you wake up to one flying around the bedroom, they can seem a lot bigger in the moment.

How Did Bats Get Into My Cheshire Home?
Bats usually get into Cheshire homes through construction gaps, attic vents, flashing lines, or openings first enlarged by other animals, especially flying squirrels. That does not usually mean the builder did anything wrong. These are often normal gaps that widen over time as a home ages, settles, or weathers.
The picture above shows a bat and flying squirrel entry point in a Cheshire attic. Notice the staining, which is often caused by oils on the animals’ fur. On that job, I removed 27 flying squirrels from the attic during the winter. I was originally called because there was a bat flying in the house. I knew flying squirrels were involved because of the chew marks on the back side of the boards leading into the entry point. Flying squirrels often round off the inside corner of the board just enough to slide through comfortably. The bat exclusion on that house was done in the spring because the bats were hibernating in the attic.

Flying Squirrel Removal in Cheshire and Nearby Towns
A lot of Cheshire bat jobs overlap with flying squirrel issues. It is common to find both animals using the same house, especially around roof intersections, dormers, chimney lines, and older attic vent areas. If you are hearing attic noises, it is worth checking for both instead of assuming it is only one species.
Southington CT Bat Removal
Southington is another town where I handle a steady number of bat calls, especially on homes near the Cheshire side of town. Between bats, woodchucks, moles, and flying squirrels, I spend a lot of time in Southington.
Wolcott CT Bat Proofing
Bat calls in Wolcott are also common, especially in areas with lake homes, wooded lots, and older construction details that create good entry points. I provide bat proofing and wildlife exclusion there as well.
Wallingford CT Bat Control
Wallingford gets its share of bat and flying squirrel calls too. A lot of the same roofline, soffit, and vent issues show up there, especially on homes with attic animal activity that has been going on for a while.
Hamden Bat Removal Service
Hamden, just south of Cheshire, is another town where I provide bat removal and exclusion work. Skunks, squirrels, and other nuisance wildlife are common there too, but attic bat calls remain one of the more important service calls because of the need for proper exclusion timing.
Durham Bat Exclusion
Durham is another town where attic animal calls are common. Bat exclusion is one of my main services there alongside mole trapping and other wildlife control work. Houses with bats in Durham often have the same mix of attic gaps and secondary animal damage that I see in Cheshire and the surrounding towns.

Bats in Chimneys and Flashing in Cheshire CT
Above is a picture of a typical bat roosting spot I find in Cheshire. When I lifted the flashing on that house, 23 big brown bats came flying out. The gap between the shingles and chimney was about three inches, and bats were spread through the attic. I ended up installing two one-way bat doors at that location.
The homeowners said they counted 36 bats coming out that night before it got too dark to keep counting. A colony of 70 bats is a large colony in Connecticut. If you zoom in on the picture, you can see droppings and maybe a bat bug or two. Bat bugs look similar to bed bugs, so if you know bats are present, make sure to mention that before a treatment is done, because the treatment approach is different.
